"Raindrops Keep Failling on My Head"

The episode begins with a seemless transition from last season's finale. Meredith tries to work with Addison 'Shephard' while George is dubbed the hospital's gossip rat who is to report everything he learns about this new triangle forming between Derek, his WIFE and Meredith. Meredith and Cristina talk over drinks about their experiences dating higher-ups in the hospital. While at the bar, Joe the barkeep collapses.

"Enough is Enough"

Tension mounts between Addison (Derek's Wife) and Meredith. However Meredith actually likes and respects Addison which creates tons of conflicting emotions. In this episode we learn why Addison and Derek are separated. The interns all work together to help save a family involved in a car accident.

"Make Me Lose Control"

Cristina and Meredith discuss whether or not Cristina should tell Burke that she is pregnant with his child. Alex and Izzie start to grow on each other and both realize that there might be something there. Meredith's mother is brought in as a patient which further complicates Meredith's already stressed life. George is assigned the VERY difficult task of taking care of Meredith's mother.

"Deny, Deny, Deny"

As Cristina is supposed to be recovering she exhausts herself and her collegues trying to prove she is still up to the task of being a doctor. To make her life even worse, Cristina's mother comes to stay and 'nurse' her back to health. Dr. Ellis Grey's stay has Seattle Grace running in circles. Meanwhile Addison's departure is delayed by a patient that could use her expertise. This extended stay leaves Meredith and Derek in uncertain territory.

"Bring the Pain"

Shepard and Meredith convince a devout religious man to allow his daughter to have a life-saving surgery. In this episode we learn that Ellis (Meredith's mother) had a love affair with Chief Webber. George and Alex get caught in an elevator with a patient that needs immediate surgery. Cristina returns back to work. Izzie and Alex are at odds and it is finally time for a decision in the Meredith-Derek-Addison Love Triangle.

"Into you Like a Train"

A train wreck inundates Seattle Grace with patients. Dr. Shepard okays Webber for surgery and Addison and Izzie work on a pregnant mother who was badly burned in the accident. Izzie is forced to chose between her friendship and advancing her career at the hand of Addison. Cristina tries to track down a patient's leg; meanwhile Alex starts to wonder if he should even be a doctor. At the end of the episode we learn the fate of Meredith and Derek's relationship.

Cristina, Meredith and Izzie try to figure out what is wrong with a male patient named "Shane" who is apparently pregnant. Meanwhile while helping a very sheltered younger patient, Alex realizes that he needs to be more open with Izzie.

Derek and Addison are at odds over the visit of their long-time friends who are seeking a radical and preemptive surgery. George tries to figure out why a patient who fell five stories and survived isn't happy about being alive, and an old man makes a painful decision when he learns that his wife only has a few months to live. Meanwhile Cristina and Dr. Burke try to have a 'normal' date while Chief Webber is upset with Bailey's fellowship choice.

"Thanks for the Memories"

Thanksgiving has dawned on Seattle Grace and the interns won't admit how hard of a time they are all having during the holiday. Izzie plans a huge t-day dinner at Meredith's house but is uncertain of who will actually show up. In a humorous story George has to get through another year of the O'Malley family tradition of hunting turkeys. His family is a bit uncouth. Meredith helps a patient who just awoke from a vegetative state after 16 years.

"Much too Much"

Meredith has a one night stand (good for her) but is horribly embarrassed when he shows up at the hospital needing medical help...help to get rid of an "ever-lasting erection". Meanwhile a woman carrying quintuplets is exhausted and confused by all the medical concerns with her high-risk pregnancy. Izzie also becomes frustrated with Alex's faults.

"Owner of a Lonely Heart"

A female prison inmate named Constance Ferguson risks her life to get out of solitary confinement. Cristina has little sympathy for her. Meanwhile the rest of the interns keep a close eye on a group of premature quintuplets who have a host of health problems. Izzie's frustration and anger with Alex reaches a head and Addison teaches Izzie a painful lesson.

"Grandma got Run Over by a Reindeer"
December 11, 2005

A small boy needs a heart transplant but doesn't think he should get it. His care causes a rift between Cristina and Burke about how to treat him. The interns all get together to help Alex pass his exam and Meredith reminds Izzie of the true spirit of Christmas. Despite being with Addison on the holidays, Derek is not in a festive mood.

Meredith and Cristina dodge their true feelings about their respective relationships. Meanwhile Geoge has a hard time discharging an older patient who isn't sick but refuses to leave the confines of Seattle Grace. And Alex finally hears back about his exams.

The nurses union at Seattle Grace go on strike. This leaves the doctors to fend for themselves which is easier said than done. While treating a patient, Meredith makes a critical mistake which is noticed by the patient's friends. Meanwhile Izzie treats a pregnant young girl.

Despite the hospital's "code black" and the bomb squad's best efforts, the situation at Seattle Grace escalates explosively. Meredith must work with the bomb squad to save everyone's lives and Derek must perform a surgery under pressure to save a man's life.

Derek and Addison are surprised when someone from their past shows up at Seattle Grace and stirs things up. Cristina's secret finally makes its way to Burke (via Cristina's mother). Meanwhile Meredith searches into her family's "dirty laundry".

February 26th, 2006

Meredith and George find work to be rather awkward following their "morning after". The rest of the doctos at Seattle Grace pick up on this tension and are clued in that something is up. Mark's visit to Seattle Grace also has Derek and Addison experiencing a little tension. Baily is forced to return a favor to Addison by treating her "feminine" problem. Denny Duquette comes back into the picture which creates problems for Izzie and Alex's relationship. Burke helps a patient and witnesses how unstable relationship really are.

"Band Aid Covers the Bullet Hole"

Meredith tries to deal with the fallout from sleeping with George. Burke and George are getting together incredibly well which upsets Cristina. Bailey takes on a case despite the fact she is on maternity leave and Izzie is still bailing on Alex in favor of Denny.

A string of deaths at Seattle Grace causes the staff to become superstitious. Izzie is worried about Denny and is confroted by Alex about how she has been treating/avoiding him. An OCD patient drives Cristina crazy. Meanwhile Derek and Addison discuss their relationships with Meredith. Richard treats an old friend who has some dark news that involves Meredith's mother. Cristina and Burke fight over their new roomie.

George tries to keep quite while a mother with a terminal disease lies to her child about her health. George also starts to get on Burke's nerves. Bailey is afraid that because she has had a baby the staff won't regard her with utter fear anymore. Alex gets a leason in bedside manner from Burke, and Izzie is still worried about Denny.
